47RONIN’s City

Ako City which belongs to Hyogo prefecture is facing the Seto Inland Sea at a border between Okayama and Hyogo. This is my hometown and the historical town where a true story as " Chushingura" is very famous. The "Ako event" which has happened in 1701 in the Edo Period is origin for ”Chushingura”. Kozukenosuke Kira who are in shogunate of Edo was injured at Edo Castle by Takuminokami Asano who is a top of Ako feudal clan, and this event would be a beginning to have serious problem. Takuminokami Asano was commanded hara-kiri, Kozukenosuke Kira was not. It was very strange because there was a law of "Kenka-Ryouseibai" which perpetratrs and victims were punished. Takuminokami Asano was hara-kiri on the same day and his team member were unemployed as smurai. 47RONIN such as Kuranosuke Oishi have decided to kill Kozukenosuke Kira for their boss's revenge. December 14th in 1702 when Takuminokami Asano was dead that day in 1701, they went Kira's house and their desire achieved. This accident is very famous, and many people made a movie (also Hollywood movie), a TV drama and kabuki and is handed down to today.
You can access from Okayama station by direct train (I mean that you don't have to change any vehicles). If you arrive at the station, there is Kuranosuke Oishi's statue in front of the station. When you go down a road "castle street", which connect to the castle from the station, to the south direction, there is a "Ikitugi well". This is the place where the samurai who had come to tell Takuminokami Asano's death from Edo took a break. A store of a gift is next to the south, and you can put a kimono or samurai's costume on for free. Of course, you can also do some sightseeing in this town. When you're advancing a little for the west, 47RONIN's grave is put at "Kagaku temple". The south side straight from there, you can see "ruin of Ako castle". To say why it's ruin, Ako feudal clan had crushed before making a castle tower. Heading right west side is "Oishi shrine", which museum about Cyushingura is placed, and 47RONIN were worshiped. Someone wishes because they want to come true their big dream like 47RONIN.
On the whole, you will have a gerat tour at 47RONIN's city. First, it's countyside, so it helps to feel calm. Another thing is that you can know about Ako samurai's history deeply. Wouldn't you like to have feeling of 47RONIN, which carrying out original intention, either?
